TEXANS LEAD WAY FOR MID-SOUTH IN NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
Six Texans brought back a total of ten medals from the inaugural USAPA National Tournament in Buckeye, AZ. The Mid-South Region was well represented with about twenty players from Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Our region also had more ambassadors attending and playing than any other region, except Arizona. It was a true learning experience as we “learned” how to play a different brand of pickleball.
Junior player, Rylee Mendez, New Braunfels, TX, claimed silver medals in Jr. Singles as well as Jr. Doubles (exhibition) while also gaining a bronze in Jr. Mixed Doubles. Cindy Kimling, San Antonio, won a bronze medal in 50-54 Women’s Singles and a bronze in Doubles. Pam Boyd of Cibolo, TX, teamed with Cindy in Doubles for her bronze and also received a silver medal in Adult 35-99 Women’s Singles. Joseph Greco and his brother, Dominick Greco, Plano, TX, captured the bronze in Adult 35-99 Men’s Doubles. Sonia Hartman of Houston took the silver in Young Adult Singles.
Congratulations to not only our medal winners but also to all who participated for their fine showing in Buckeye. With 400 entrants, this was an experience that will not be soon forgotten.
